OUTSIDE SALES - MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICER
Ideal candidate will have well-established contacts, 2+ years external experience, excellent communication and relationship building skills. Working knowledge of FHA/VA, conventional, self-employment, stated income/assets, construction loans, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, no PMI loans and most non-conforming programs. Preferred but not required - Applicant would possess knowledge of the FHA 203K loan, the FHA 203K Streamline loan, and the Rural Housing Development programs. Interviews applicants to develop information concerning their needs, desires and earnings to assist in presenting best loan program at an acceptable risk level.
Arranges for the appraisal, conducts title searches and obtains necessary documents. Ensures the preparation and processing of forms and legal documents as required. Works under general supervision. Must have the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, respond to client complaints, and communicate denials with diplomacy. Must possess skills in problem solving, decision-making, time management and attention to detail. Commission structured higher than competition with ascending scale based on monthly productivity.
Verifies, compiles and types application information for mortgage loans. Reviews loan application file to verify that application data is complete and meets established standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment. Calls or writes credit bureau and employer to verify accuracy of information. Enters loan application information using PC. Calls specified companies to obtain property abstract, survey, and appraisal. Informs Manager of discrepancies in title or survey. Submits mortgage loan application file for underwriting approval. Records data on status of loans, including number of new applications and loans approved, canceled, or denied.
Provides support to other areas of the department as assigned and promotes business for HomeTown Lenders by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. Also responsible for providing administrative support to the Loan Officers, i.e. answering telephones, opening and distributing mail and reports, tracking interest rates, and assisting with other functions and projects as assigned. Preferred background in banking or financials. Must have above average organizational skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment with schedule flexibility and be detail oriented. Need familiarity with pertinent software such as Calyx Point.
